Each NFL season, teams will recognize one player or coach from their organization as their Walter Payton Man of the Year Nominee – an ode to their exceptional work on and off the field. Due to his endless work within the Seattle community, the Seahawks chose to honor captain and linebacker Bobby Wagner as their Walter Payton Man of the Year Nominee for the 2023-2024 season.
The announcement of Bobby as our nominee included a formal press release, a story from inside reporter John Boyle, a string of social graphics recounting Wagner’s more recent community endeavors, and a tribute video recapping those efforts. The story of Bobby’s nomination was amplified via numerous media outlets: KOMO, KSL Sports, and Bobby’s alma mater Utah State being some of the notable sources. In addition, the Seahawks ran a #WPMOYChallenge Sweepstakes for Seahawks fans to enter, with the goal of driving extra engagement for the charity portion of the NFL initiative.
